Summertime Sippin: Veuve Rich + Barcart Styling
Today I'm sharing my new favorite summer drink! Last week I had a girls night in and thought it would be the perfect time to try the new Veuve Clicquot Rich. As soon as I heard that this was a champagne drink meant to be served with peppers, earl grey tea and cucumber my curiosity got the best of me and I HAD to give it a try. Plus a girls night in gave me the excuse to re-arrange my bar cart a bit. I'm constantly re-arranging accessories and decorative accents in my house so this is the current set up for now.

There are a few different garnishes that you serve Veuve Clicquot Rich with such as pineapple, grapefruit zest, peppers, cucumber and earl grey tea. I decided to use my yellow, red and purple (!) peppers from my weekly SPUD order as well as cucumbers from my dad's garden and my favourite earl grey tea from Epicure.
I was most interested to try the tea combo because who would ever think of pairing earl grey with champagne?! Not this girl- or at least not until now. Of the three combos we tried this one definitely got the vote as the best but both the pepper and cucumber were also delicious!
Now in true 'Diana fashion', I didn't read the suggestions prior to serving these up so I may have gone a bit overboard with the garnishes (you only need a few, not a handful like I used- oops! haha) but I figure go hard or go home! They were totally tasty. With the earl grey tea if you have one of these, just pour over the tea strainer into the glass but since I don't have one I used the satchel that comes with the epicure tea and poured over the satchel then let the tea bag sit in the glass for a few minutes.
Because the Veuve Clicquot Rich is quite sweet it's meant to be paired with unexpected garnishes like the tea and vegetables and over lots of ice so that as the ice melts, it pares down the sweetness. I'd definitely recommend trying it out and if you're in Edmonton you can get it by the glass at North 53 or from deVine Wines & Spirits. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
