Beauty 411: Common Skin Concerns & How to Correct Them
Sometimes no matter how much water we drink, how well we eat, how much sleep we get or how good our skincare regime is, our skin acts up on us. Genetics play a big role in our skin and despite our best efforts at times it takes a little extra something to address some common skincare concerns. As I move towards a more natural beauty regime I'm noticing incredible changes in my skin (for the better!) but every once in a while one of these pesky problems pops up and I know I'm not alone!
1. Redness/Uneven Skin Tone
I've always had a bit of an issue with an uneven skin tone but thanks to a great skincare routine have been able to mostly keep it under control. However, at times where I'm a little stressed out or not taking the best care of my skin it comes back in full force and even when the rest of my face is under control I still seem to see redness around my nose and on my chin. This is when it's time to break open the makeup bag for a bit of help. If you have olive or tan skin, a quick fix is to use a yellow tinted face powder or concealer. If you're on the fairer side a green concealer will also do wonders to balance out the redness. I know it sounds strange but trust me, color correcting is amazing! To actually get to the root of the problem and try to diminish some of the redness try a few of these natural remedies for a beautiful even complexion.
2. Blemishes
Ugh, I can remember being in junior high and high school and thinking, I can't wait until I'm an adult and I don't get pimples anymore. Unfortunately as I learned, breakouts as an adult are still very common. I'm grateful that they don't happen to me nearly as often as they used to but when they do, I now know how to fight them! I used to struggle with knowing how to cover up any problem areas but this video from Lisa Eldridge is a seriously incredible tutorial for covering any blemishes or trouble zones. In terms of treating any blemishes I used to have a tendency to over use product which would backfire causing the entire area to get incredibly dry and only draw more attention to the area I'm trying to cover #notcute. When my skin decides to go buck and breakout I now use Normaderm's anti acne skincare and it's been amazing. The deep cleansing gel doesn't dry my skin out and paired with the pore tightening purifying lotion toner, has been a great addition to my skincare regime when I break out. Lastly, I use the corrective anti-acne treatment to reduce blemishes and the look of acne scarring. Winning!
3. Under Eye Circles
There's nothing worse than seeing someone you know and having them go 'oh, you look tired today'.
A) How rude
B) Time to cover up those dark circles!
The most obvious solution to this problem is to get more sleep but sometimes that's just not possible and also, some people are more prone to having dark circles than others (damn genetics!). So, to cover those bad boys up properly you'll first start using a creamy concealer that's 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone. After you blend your concealer, apply your foundation as usual to make sure the makeup is properly blended. Then finish with a translucent powder which will have an illuminating affect and brighten the whole look and you're ready to go!.
