A Trip to my Happy Place with Lincoln
While I kept quiet about it on social media, September was a busy and exciting month for James and I as his parents came out to visit from England for the first time since James moved here! Now that we finally have a house big enough to entertain out of town guests it was so great to finally have the space to have part of his family out to visit and check out James' new home here in Canada!
Once their dates were booked James and I immediately began to think of where to take them and what we should do and the planning began. Naturally the rockies were at the top of the list so we explored Jasper, Banff and a bit of BC.
Although it was a bit disappointing that with all of the fires the views were so smokey the skies did light up in a beautiful peach-y pink hue because of the smoke and thankfully on our final day the skies did clear to allow for better views of the mountains I've come to love.
Jasper and Banff were a must but the best part of our trip for me was my happy place - Fairmont British Columbia. For as long as I've been alive my grandparents have had (and still do!) a timeshare in Fairmont so I have so many memories of visiting Fairmont and for me it is truly my happy place.
We stayed at the Mountainside VIllas which are perfect with a full kitchen, two levels, and a gorgeous mountain lined golf course view. Fairmont is a pretty small town outside of Radium but there are a few hidden gems there that I love such as Tony's Greek Grill (so yummy!), Smoking Waters Cafe, From Scratch and in Invermere - the Black Forest for some seriously delicious German food!
My favourite part of visiting Fairmont though is the scenery - it is so beautiful there and the drive is breathtaking. Driving from Banff you see hot springs, mountains, forests, so much wildlife and so many lakes and incredible views that take your breath away. That being said, the drive home is a little over 7 hours and with four of us in the car we needed to be comfortable which is where Lincoln comes in.
Our friends and Lincoln Canada and Pumpkin PR set us up with a Lincoln Continental for our trip and it was incredible. Massaging seats (so good), air conditioned seats (a lifesaver in the heat) and tons of interior space made for such a comfortable trip. I'm not lying when I say this car drove like a dream. One of my favourite features though was the self parallel parking feature. Sometimes in towns like Banff or Jasper street parking can be tough because it's so busy but this car literally parks itself which was a huge stress relief because I hate parallel parking!
It was so great to have a vehicle that was comfortable and spacious enough for all 4 of us and our luggage. Every person had their own climate control, USB ports for charging and I could even plug in my laptop and work (because let's be honest, I love my job but I can't really take more than a day or two off in a row without needing to be connected).
I won't lie, it was tough handing the keys back (oh how I miss the self parallel parking and massaging seats! lol); almost as tough as it was to leave Fairmont. Thankfully I know I have our visit next summer with my family to look forward to.
Where are your guys' 'happy places'? Let me know some of your favourite places to travel or visit, or if your 'happy place' is in your own city!
I want to say a huge thank you to Lincoln Canada and Pumpkin PR for loaning us this sweet ride for our trip. It truly made the biggest difference when it came to comfort and convenience! All opinions as always are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog, without them I wouldn't be able to do what I love!
