CreekLife
Happy wednesday everyone! I hope your week has been off to a great start. I've been very busy over here at 204 Pak with lots of exciting projects underway, one of which is another article I've written for CreekLife magazine! You might remember I wrote in the last issue about mine and James' decision to purchase in Creekwood and why we love our new 'hood. For this edition, I wanted to get into the nitty gritty of what it's really like to build a new home AKA - how to deal with design differences when you're building with your partner.
In our previous post with Creekwood, we showed you the showhome that we fell in love with. Since then, we’ve shared a few snippets of our home so you can see some of the changes we made during our build process. As an interior designer I had the idea that when James and I built, I'd be the one selecting all of our finishes but boy was I ever wrong! James and I had different design preferences for every room of the house so the design process was not an easy one. That being said, there are a few simple ways to find compromises. From starting a joint pinterest board, to trying to focus on the similarities you share and not your differences, there ARE ways to build a home that you'll love with your partner even if your styles are opposite.
If you're in Edmonton and the surrounding area, pick up this season's issue of CreekLife magazine at any show home in Creekwood or at your local grocery store for my tips. If you're not in town but still need some help - don't worry, I've got you covered. You can read my article here (scroll to the bottom of the page for the PDF issue) and take a little peek into my home while you're at it! You’ll see a few close up details of some of our upgrades in our kitchen and our finishes such as our backsplash, cabinetry and lighting.
When it comes down to it, design is all about the details, so it’s the little things that all come together to make a beautiful house a home that you’ll love. Our home is really coming together and in the next few months, all of our decor details will be finalized and I’ll be sharing even more of our home on the blog and with CreekLife!
Thanks for stopping by!
