Inspired by: Canada 150 Cake Recipe
Well yesterday may have been about my birthday but today is all about Canada's birthday! This weekend we'll be celebrating Canada's 150th and to celebrate, I thought I'd make a bit of a non traditional cake.
I love the naked/semi-naked cakes that are everywhere lately (remember this beauty I used for my bloggiversary?!). Well, inspired by that I thought I'd make a cake that would pay homage to Canada in a non red and white way.
This year Parks Canada gave free park passes and free access to all of our National Parks which I think is amazing. Canada has so much natural beauty that I wanted to try to celebrate that when I created this cake.
I submitted these photos and recipes for a round up on Wayfair so for the full recipe and instructions and to see some other really impressive cakes head over here for more ideas and inspiration. (Scroll to the bottom of the page for the article!)
Baking has never been my forte unfortunately but I promise you that if I can do this, you can make it too!
A few plastic wildlife animals, some greenery and chocolate shavings are all you need for the decoration and from there let your imagination run wild!
How will you be celebrating Canada's 150 this weekend?
Happy cake decorating!
