Mother's Day Inspo: Breakfast in Bed & Two Simple DIYs
With Mother's Day fast approaching I wanted to share a few ideas on how to pamper your mom this upcoming Mother's Day with a simple breakfast in bed and two DIYs!
First, let's start with the DIYs....
THE CUTEST POM POM BLANKET DIY
I don't know about you but I can never have enough blankets around in the house. I try to have at least one blanket in every room and most of them are these knit ones from The Brick. They're affordable, cozy and come in quite a few styles and colors that you can pick up in store. For the sake of this DIY I picked up this exact blanket from The Brick. The only other material you need is a roll of yarn in the color of your choice! I love the idea of adding a pop of color with fun contrasting pom poms but for the sake of this DIY in my own home, I opted to pick a yarn in the same color as the blanket.
Tip: Since you're cutting the tassels off this blanket anyways, snip one off and take it with you to the craft store to find your yarn match!
The first step is to determine how many pom poms you want. I opted for 5 pom poms on each of the shorter sides but you can choose to do however many you want!
The pom poms themselves are very easy to make and to keep it simple, you can check out this great video tutorial that I use whenever I want to make pom poms HERE (I use the hand method so you truly just need yarn and scissors!). This part of the DIY is a good one to do when you're watching a movie or Netflix at home passing the time!
Once your pom poms are made you'll need to attach them to the blanket. What's great about this blanket from The Brick is that the knit is a bit on the looser side so once you trim the tassels, you can easily tie your pom poms through the knit, trim the string and they're set!
How cute is this blanket?! I think it would make such a sweet gift for mom or you know, to keep for yourself! haha
Next up for a simple Mother's Day gift idea is my
MOTHER'S DAY GIFT BASKET DIY
This DIY is another one I adore because it's totally customizable so you can fill it with items that you know your mom would love! I wanted to go for a bit of a cozy theme for my gift basket to go along with the pom pom blanket.
I picked up this great basket from The Brick on one of my trips to pick up accessories (The Brick has a TON of great accessories in store that aren't online!) and I thought immediately that it would make a great gift basket! I also grabbed a pretty scented candle from The Brick too because I feel like you can never go wrong with giving candles as a part of a gift! A few of the other items for my cozy inspired basket that I used were matches, tea, a mug and a book.
I put a bit of tissue in the basket to start and then just added my items to fill up the basket! For a bit of an added detail for a finishing touch I added a few sprigs of fresh greenery (flowers would be beautiful as well) and I tied on a couple of cute tassels to the basket's handle. I actually picked these up from my craft store pre-made but you could also use some of your leftover yarn from the pom pom blanket DIY and DIY your own tassels like I did when I made my Striped Tassel Cushion DIY!
Now, let's show how we can pull these elements together for the ultimate Mother's Day breakfast in bed!
I really love that our spare bedroom is so bright and airy and pretty thanks to some of our lighter furniture and decor pieces so this pretty breakfast in bed set up is basically what dreams are made of (if you ask me!). If you're looking for an idea to spoil mom this mother's day, look no further....
What's great about this is that it's the thought that counts. What you serve doesn't have to be the fanciest meal; pop some OJ in a champagne flute and place a few simple treats on a tray and it will look beautiful! Over a few shopping trips I've picked up some great accessories including trays from The Brick and they're perfect for this breakfast in bed set up.
A wicker tray with handles is perfect for the meal while my wooden and marble board is great on the bedside table as a little coffee station. For an added touch fresh tulips and a few sprigs of greenery are affordable ways to add major wow factor to the set up!
I love how sweet this is and if you plan on spoiling mom with a breakfast in bed set up on Mother's Day, that's a great time to give your DIY pom pom blanket and gift basket!
