A Bright and Airy Bedroom Refresh
The last time I shared our spare bedroom update things were looking quite a bit different than they are now. Our furniture was in and we were certainly set for guests but the space was lacking the finesse and decor details a room needs to feel finished. After a bit of convincing, James got on board with my bright and airy design plan with pops of pink. It's been a lot of fun decorating a space that's so different from the rest of our house. While most of our place is quite mid century modern and a little bit eclectic, this room is decidedly different. I wanted to play around with a more transitional design style, opting for pieces with classic lines and more details and of course, adding in some feminine touches here and there.
Swapping out the bedding for a textured white set keeps the very small room (less than 100 square feet!) feeling spacious and airy. I'm still so in love with this bed frame from The Brick, the fabric is the perfect neutral and I adore the detailing Since there's no space for a dresser in this room with a queen size bed, we chose bedside tables with lots of storage. Between the closet and the drawers of the side tables, there's more than enough storage for a spare room/my second closet ;)
We added a beautiful large mirror to help reflect the light in the room (again, making this small room feel bigger) plus for guests, it's nice to have a mirror to use that isn't limited to just the bathroom. Pink curtains, floral accents and cushions make the space feel playful which I love. Despite the mostly traditional pieces, I added in some more modern artwork and accents to spice things up a bit. I love to add unexpected pieces like this in a room to keep things interesting. I think that this space turned out exactly how I had hoped. A little bit traditional, a little bit modern and a few feminine touches to keep it fun! What do you think?! Future plans for the room include swapping out the bedside table hardware for some crystal knobs and painting (if James and I can agree on a color! haha ) Paint color suggestions?? Help me!
