4 Tips for a Beautiful Bedroom
Is there any room better than the bedroom? For me, my bedroom is my cozy retreat from the world, the place where after a long day at work, I can relax and unwind. I'm currently undergoing a little bedroom refresh (which I cannot wait to share soon!) but in the meantime, I thought I'd share a few of my tips for designing your perfect bedroom oasis.
1. Get inspired
Without purpose or direction, it's hard to get started on a bedroom revamp. Flipping through design magazines, scrolling through Pinterest or even creating a mood board can all help identify what design elements pop up most consistently in images you like, and will assist in narrowing a design aesthetic for your space. Once you know what you love, it's easier to make small (or big) bedroom design changes!
2. Take a design risk
It's easy to stay within your comfort zone when you're doing a room refresh but often the most beautiful and rewarding spaces happen when we take a risk and make choices that might make you a little nervous at the time. It's those risky decor decisions that often pay off big time when it comes to a room reveal. So if you're contemplating a bold accent paint color, changing out a major element in the room like the flooring, looking at a patterned bedding set or a statement making piece of art, take the risk and I'd bet you'll be happy you did!
3. Focus on the bed
The most important aspect of the bedroom is most definitely the bed. Obvi! From the mattress you sleep on, visit www.thebedroomstore.com, to the frame it sits on and the bedding that covers it; the bed is the focal point that you'll want to pay heavy attention to if you're re-vamping your bedroom. Selecting your bed frame or a bedding that catches your eye is a great place to start when designing your room. These are a few rooms that I adore, just look at how the bed is the focal point of the room, and how cozy and inviting these spaces are!
4. Create a cozy ambiance
Lighting plays such a major role in the look of a space. Especially in a bedroom where you want to relax and be calm, ambiant light is so important. I love the idea of incorporating dainty fairy lights for a romatic or whimsical feel. Or, add a statement making chandelier or overhead light to add drama. My biggest lighting tip for a bedroom though, whichever lights you select, try to find ones with a dimmer. In the evening you'll love having the dimmed light to create a calm and relaxing environment but also having the option for full strength lighting in the morning as you're starting your day.
So there you go, just a few of my bedroom design tips; happy decorating!
