Summertime Sippin': Pimm's Cup

Happy Tuesday! Did you all catch our super exciting announcement on Sunday? If not, be sure to check it out here! Today, I'm going to be talking about one of my favorite summertime sips: the Pimms cup.  Over the past few years | have found there are a few perks to being with a Brit.  European adventures and cute accent aside, another that I've discovered is the Pimms Cup.  I hadn't heard of it before (although since learning of it I have seen it at several restaurants in the city) but even before I had tried it I knew I'd love it.  Cool, a little sweet and packed with fresh fruits and mint, this is an easy sippin' summer cocktail that you can't go wrong with for a hot summer day- so, let's get to it and make a Pimms Cup!

What will you need?

- Large pitcher or container

-Pimm's Liqueur

-Gin (I like Bombay Saphire)

-Lemonade*

*Note: Lemonade here is very different to lemonade in the uk- the closest thing you'll find would be 7up or Sprite but for this variation, I used the Presidents Choice sparkling lemonade because a) it's delicious and b) I like the packaging - always a bonus!

-1/2 Orange

-4 or 5 Strawberries

-1/3 of a Cucumber

-A few sprigs of Fresh Mint

-Ice *

*Since you've already got some berries, mint and other goodies in there, why not throw a few of those in your ice cubes for added flavour as the ice melts & plus, they look pretty (are you seeing a theme here? I like pretty things!) I added a few mint leaves, strawberries, small orange pieces and blueberries to mine & I love how they looked (and tasted) in the Pimms cup!

What's Next?

Throw your fruit, cucumber and mint into the pitcher and add your ice.  Add approx 5 parts lemonade to two parts Pimms to one part gin.  This has been my favourite variation that I've had so far but other options can exclude the gin, or substitute lemonade for ginger ale or sprite. While I haven't tried it yet, I would imagine if you found this drink a bit too sweet, you could even add part club soda so you don't lose carbonation but cut down the sweet factor.  What's great about this drink is there's really no right or wrong way to make it (despite what my boyfriend from across the pond might say, apparently this version I made was blasphemous...go figure!), so find a combination that you love and just combine, stir & enjoy! How easy is that?

Now go make some Pimm's, find yourself a patio, slap on some sunscreen & enjoy!
