Dessert Charcuterie Board
Remember a few weeks back when I shared a gorgeous outdoor picnic that Justine and I threw to celebrate fall? Well, today I'm sharing part two! Justine has the most perfect beautiful yard that was made for hosting cozy outdoor picnics so we couldn't resist switching things up a bit form our first setting and showing off round two of outdoor entertaining.
For this fall outdoor gathering I wanted to put together something simple but impressive, delicious and of course something that would look just as pretty on the table as the rest of the decor! Enter- the dessert charcuterie board!
I am pretty much the queen of the charcuterie board. They're kind of my go-to for easy entertaining. In fact, I've shared a few of my favourites on here a couple of times (check out my ultimate charcuterie board, the antipasto board I pair with rosé and a simple serving for a girls night in!). When it comes to fall I'm all about rich flavours, warm and cozy comfort foods and the delicious fall fruits so a dessert inspired charcuterie board was an obvious choice for me to bring to our girl's hangout!
So - what should you put on your dessert charcuterie board?
Cookies or biscuits! Instead of crackers on a traditional board, opts for cookies or thin biscuits. I used these cute chocolate peanut butter cookies by Cookie Love from SPUD because the hearts were just too adorable (and you know, chocolate + peanut butter is AMAZING!) I also ordered these chocolate bunny grahams from SPUD and consider yourselves warned - they're addictive!
Fruit - both fresh and dried. Use whatever is in season, for fall peaches, pomegranates and plums are perfect. Dried apricots and apples are also a great choice. I ordered my produce from SPUD so that I could just have it delivered to my door to keep things simple.
Cheese: Cheese + fruit + chocolate is pretty much a match made in heaven if you ask me so pick a couple of your favourite kinds of cheese and put them on there too! I opted for a brie and an old sharp cheddar for my board but choose whatever suits your tastes best. SPUD has an incredible variety of cheese that they deliver right to your door so your options are endless!
Chocolate - obviously no dessert board would be complete without chocolate. Chocolate covered almonds and a few unique chocolate bars from SPUD were the perfect chocolate additions to this tasty dessert board. My faves are the carmelized macadamia nuts chocolate bar + any of the natural kitchen delights chocolate bars from SPUD.
Nuts & other little goodies - My latest obsession from SPUD are the Prana maple glazed nuts so they naturally had to make an appearance on my dessert board. Any mixed nuts or trail mix would be perfect for a bit of sweetness along with the rest of the board. I also threw a few candy coated pretzels on the board as well, any sweet or salty or dessert like snack is great!
Garnish with a bit of mint for a polished look & you're set!
Once the dessert board is settled it's time to talk WINE! If you've been following 204 Park for a while chances are you've heard me sing my praises for Sandhill Wine. They've become my go-to for any kind of entertaining. I've yet to try a bottle that I haven't loved and the fact that they're from British Columbia just adds to my love for them!
I had a few bottles from my wine club delivery* so I thought they would be perfect to accompany this fall picnic.
*Wine of the month club is AMAZING! Choose from either one red and one white or two red wines delivered to you each month. I know this is a bit early but I'll just throw it out there - this would be an amazing gift for someone for the holidays! ;)
Once you've got the food and wine selected it's time to create the cozy ambiance and get ready to host your get together! I shared a few outdoor entertaining decor tips earlier and today on her blog, Justine is breaking down hostess 101. Both Justine and I talk about our go-to's for entertaining, what are our absolute entertaining essentials and we both share a bit of an entertaining fail so go on over to Justine's blog to check it out!
