Home Office Organization Tips
Today I'm showing off a room that's been more than a little bit neglected over the past few months....my office! Over the holidays my office became part 'Santa's Workshop', part storage room and part hideaway for any and all excess decor, packaging and other miscellaneous items and it's since stayed that way. However, being down an office over the past few months has definitely not been ideal so over the past few weeks I've been decluttering and re-organizing my home office and it's finally ready to share again! Since I've decluttered and re-organized I thought I'd share a few tips for your own home office to help you get organized and stay productive.

1. Find Furniture With Storage
In a home office any additional storage is always a good thing, you can never have enough! In my own office I wanted to make sure I had lots of storage options - whether those be smaller storage solutions such as the drawers in the Catonia Computer Desk or the major storage in my Bexley Filing Cabinets. When you're looking for a desk, I always suggest finding one that has even a small amount of storage. The Catonia Computer Desk has two small closed drawers that are perfect for unsightly notes, paperwork and small office supplies or items that I want to hide away as well as one open storage compartment for more frequently used items. This type of storage although small, is great for keeping your desktop clear from clutter.
2. Store Your 'Light Use' Items
My next tip for a well organized space is to store away your infrequently used items. In my own line of work I have many photo props and design samples that I need access to but that I don't use all the time. For these items I like to store them away in easily accessible boxes or containers that are labelled. For items that I use maybe a few times a week and for my paperwork, I like to store those in my Bexley Filing Cabinets. These filing cabinets are amazing. They're a great size so they can hold a lot. There are two smaller drawers and then one big bottom drawer so they're very functional. I like to keep one beside my desk for more frequently used items and the other inside my closet for the items I use a little bit less.
3. Save Your Open Shelving for Display
My last home office tip is less about storage and organization and maybe a bit more about adding personality to your room... Once you have your main supplies and materials stored away and organized, it's time to add a bit of personality and decor to your space! I love my North Avenue Collection Bookshelves that I have in my office. I have two that serve to be both functional as well as decorative. I like to have a mix of storage boxes and file holders, boxes for knick knacks, books and then of course decor. On my last shopping trip to The Brick I picked up some great accessories and to me, having a beautiful and inspiring office is important for my creativity so I love being able to switch up my accessories every so often. Remember, The Brick has a ton of great accessories in store that you can't see online so head into your nearest store next time you're looking for new accessories!
