Summer Decor Tips

We may be almost through July (how the heck did that happen?!) but that doesn't mean that it's too late to bring summer indoors with your decor. Over the past year I've been working with CreekLife to document mine and James' home building and decorating process as we've moved into our new 'hood and the summer issue marks the last chapter of our collaboration so I wanted to end on a fun note with summer decor tips!

First Peek // An Organized Home // Dealing With Design Differences

For those of us who want to feel like it's summer all year long (or at least, want it to feel that way indoors for as long as possible) I shared my full tips in the latest issue of CreekLife which you can view online, or pick up from Creekwood show homes or businesses around the city. But if you're not in Edmonton and still want to know a few of my tips, here's a bit of a peek at my ways to bring those fun summer vibes into your decor...

summer decor tips

1. Add a Pop of Color

Bright cheery colors are synonymous with summer so bring some fun colors into your home for a fresh summer-y feel. Throw cushions or blankets, scented candles, inexpensive artwork or even area rugs are great ways to bring in some color for the summer and they don't have to break the bank!

2. Tropical Touches

The tropical trend is huge right now so any addition of palm prints or pineapples will put you right on trend. Some of my faves are the palm leaf toss cushions or pineapple vases and candles - very inexpensive and easy to swap out seasonally but they make a big impact!

3. Greens and Flowers

I feel like I say this over and over again (because I do! lol) but my number one tip for freshening up your decor, adding color and interest, bringing in texture and refreshing your space without spending a ton of cash is to bring in greenery and flowers! Trust me, a few inexpensive plants are all you need to see a big difference in your space!
