(Not So) Basic Black
My first official 204 Park Post! I’m only a little excited. I had an insane number of ideas swirling around in my head when I sat down to write for this marvellous little bloggy-poo of ours, but I knew that I wanted the first post to be something that I love love, not just love.
And that, my friends, leads me to what is very likely my first love in life- fashion. And with that, my second long time love… the so-called ‘colour’ black. Don’t get me wrong, I do love colour, but when it comes to my wardrobe there’s just something about the richness and simplicity of black that keeps me coming back for more. I have an entire section in my closet dedicated to black… lovingly called ‘the dark side’ from now on.
I’ve spotted some completely, totally, mind-blowingly amazing items that I would love to add to my little (ok, huge) dark side. Fall is a great time to add cool-weather essentials and these babies have my name written all over them:
For one thing, fur is just amazing. Or faux fur. I don’t really care, as long as it looks like fur and it’s as gorg as this Miss Selfridge Bolero. Oooh. La. La.
The Valentino studded pump has been huge in all colours and styles for a while now and it’s easy to see why. A classic black pair can be dressed up or funked up, or whichever way so inspires you.
And on the flipside of footwear, we all need something casual for the chilly days. But casual can (and should) also be fabulous. Enter Rag & Bone for Hunter boots. Can it get any better? Ummmmm. Nope.
Unless of course, it’s Miu Miu. I might be biased towards the best designer of ballet flats (trust me), but this handbag is beyond perfect. The leather bows on the sides take it from a basic-basic to an amazing basic. I love bows, but only when they're not too 'cute', and Miu Miu definitely nailed it on this one.
So my dears, as you can see, black is anything but boring or harsh. When it's paired with fur, bows, incredible design, and a stud here and there, it's the MOST perfect staple for any wardrobe.
Thanks for reading and have a fab weekend!
