GTL: Woodland Nursery
Okay you guys, I've been working on a little nursery project that I've been dying to share! When Jen approached me about helping her with her nursery I could not have been more excited!
While our initial plan started with pretty lilacs, pastels and a feature glitter wall (!!!) a second ultrasound and SURPRISE changed the plan from soft and glam for a wee miss to woodland cozy for their little mister who should be making his appearance in a few short weeks. Below are a few little peeks of the room I've already shared on our Instagram.
Jen wanted cozy, rustic, woodland but we didn't want the room to feel too dark. We wanted to source vintage and second hand pieces, and her and her husband weren't afraid of a few DIY projects. So for today's Get The Look post (the GTL for those of you new around here) I thought I'd break down some of the pieces to get this look yourself!
Let's start with the basics of the room. Cork flooring set the tone for a soft space. We decided a pallet wall would be the perfect feature for the room since the wall color we chose is light and airy so the room feels bright. The DIY pallet wall ended up causing a few issues and to have it installed was $1200+ SO we moved onto vinyl flooring that we mounted on the wall (seen above in crib photo) and it looks incredible and cost only $200 and a few hours of work (score)!
For the furnishings I first selected pieces in mid tone woods, then Jen scored a fab vintage dresser that is a family heirloom piece that could not be more perfect for the room. By selecting a lighter rocking chair/recliner, we balance out the darker crib and dresser. Adding a bit of texture to the floor, we chose a FLOR area rug with a great pattern that will not only look perfect, but the FLOR tiles are a practical choice for a nursery as well.
Next up comes all of the fun stuff, the accents and accessories! A log side table keeps up with the woodland theme and fun antlers and art and accessories add the perfect amount of whimsy for a statement gallery wall. Lastly, textiles in the outdoor motif such as this antler blanket and faux fur throw are the perfect add on to the room, along with pops of plaid (sentimental to the family) and little splashes of red.
So there you go- how cute are some of these pieces for a fun woodland nursery?! We're still working away on the project so I'll be sure to share more updates once the room is done! And if you need some more nursery inspiration, check out these 11 nursery trends to help get your nursery ready!
