29 & Feelin' Fine! A Mid Year Check In
Well today I turn 29 and I can honestly say this is the best I've felt in years. Over the past 6 months I've spent a considerable amount of time and energy focussing on the goals I set at the start of the year and how I feel heading into this birthday is a night and day difference from how I felt last year.
It's kind of handy having your birthday almost exactly 6 months from New Year's as it's a great time for a mid year check in ...
When I look back at my post from New Year's I had 6 areas I was looking to work on:
1. Overall Well Being (mental and physical health and the oh so elusive work/life balance) // 2. Health & Fitness // 3. Travel // 4. Work Smarter Not Harder // 5. Less is More // 6. Be Kind - Assume The Best in Others
6 months into the year I can look back and say I'm honestly doing pretty well with my goals! As each month passes I have small goals for my work/life balance and overall health and in terms of my major health and fitness goals I've made HUGE progress thanks to the program I'm doing with Lucere. (Heads up, my second update on my progress is coming later this week!!)
Due to a few life changes my travel plans are a bit less this year than originally planned but that being said James and I have already made several trips to the mountains and BC and I have a few more trips to BC planned this year not to mention my trip to Ottawa and Toronto that I'll be sharing more on soon!
Working smarter not harder is a continual work in progress but one I'm getting closer and closer to with each passing month. Same with my quest for a 'less is more' lifestyle. I've managed to do a huge clearout of truckloads of old clothes, home decor and miscellaneous *crap* (for lack of a better word) that's been cluttering my physical and mental space for years! It feels so good to let shit go!
As for #6, well I think I'm doing pretty well on that one too and my attempts to mediate at least once a week (hoping I'll get to daily one day) I think are a big help in my continued quest to be a kinder and more understanding person.
I think that setting boundaries with my time and energy and prioritizing myself over the past 6 months has been the biggest change I've made. I feel more calm, more in control, way happier and overall like I have my $#!t together way more this year than I've felt over the past few years. I have a really good feeling about 29 and can't wait to see what this year holds!
This year I'll be spending my birthday with my favourite person, in one of my favourite places in the world and we plan to spend the day playing tennis, enjoying the hot springs and enjoying the beautiful mountains, I can't wait!
