Modern Linear Wall Hanging DIY
Today I want to share a modern and simple decor DIY I made a few weeks ago at Shop The Skinny's first [GATHER] event a few weeks back. If you don't know what I'm talking about, [GATHER] is a modern playdate for moms and their littles to get out of the house and find an affordable way to connect, enjoy a workshop or activity together and enjoy quality time at an affordable price. Sound awesome? That's because it is.
Now at the first event, the activity was a crafting workshop and the crafts were two modern wall hangings - one smaller and simpler piece for the kids to put together, and a larger piece for the adults. I adore this modern linear wall hanging so today I'm showing you how to make it for yourself! Here's what you'll need:
3x wooden dowels
yarn of your choice
scissors
greenery of your choice
That's it! Start by laying out your three dowels so they're parallel and evenly spaced. Then, starting at the bottom left, tie a knot and carry the yarn to the second dowel.
Tie a knot leaving the desired space between the first and second dowel. Carry on with the yarn, tying a knot on the top left dowel then allow for yarn at the top for hanging and repeat the first steps working backward from the top right, down to the bottom left.
By keeping the yarn all in one piece vs cutting smaller pieces, you can actually adjust the spacing so if it's not totally perfect and even don't sweat it, there's a bit of give that you can use to adjust after the knots are tied and the yarn is cut.
From there, use remaining yarn to tie your greenery to the dowels of your choice. What I love about this DIY is that there's no right or wrong way to do it. Get creative! I kept mine very simple but there's so many ways you can make this DIY your own.
Now for the mini (which I made for Herman, obvs) - look how adorable Herman's little hanging is!! Head HERE for my tutorial on that one!
Happy crafting!!
